What Would it be Like to Stand on Mars?

Did you ever wonder would it be like to stand on the surface of Mars? Now you can find out, through the Midnight Planets app! This free iOS app (created by Michael Howard, AKA "Midnight Martian") can be downloaded from the Apple Store. No iOS device? It's okay! Just go to this website: http://www.midnightplanets.com/ where you can view tons of great images without having to download an app.

The Midnight Planets app lets you look through the eyes of three rovers on Mars (Curiosity, Opportunity, and Spirit). Numerous views are 360 degrees, which can make you feel as if you were actually standing on Mars! It almost seems as if you could reach out and pick up a Martian rock sample, too. Check out the images and see Mars for yourself!

Anthropologist's Note: While it may be quite some time before humans are actually standing on Mars, we can learn a lot from studying images sent back from rovers on the surface of the planet. For example, these images show us the different types of terrain we would encounter on the surface of Mars in amazing detail! What's also exciting is that these images are being continually released to the public through the internet, free of charge. People in countries around the world can see for themselves what Mars looks like, as if they were already standing on the surface.
